Customer Appreciation Day

Pompton Honda of New Jersey held its 1999 customer appreciation day on Sunday at the Honda Dealership's Pocono Cycle Festival. Once in the gate, customers were treated to more then just a day at the races.

The first thing to do was to drop off any gear at the Pompton Honda VIP garages. Helmets and leathers can get heavy; a designated and secured spot was the cure. The same garages were available to get out of the sun and relax in. Refreshments were available throughout the day.

Once settled in, Skip, a leader from the sales staff, gave pointers on what to do and provided passes to the "other" VIP section, the Tucker Rocky Tower. The infield tower is a great place to watch races and be treated to food and drink. Danielle, my better half, provided additional information such as where on the 2 plus mile course to watch the race from. My dad provided free programs after pointing out the article inside featuring Team USA and Pompton Honda.

At lunchtime the customers reported back to the garages for the "Big Qualifying BBQ." Burgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings were supplied and customers swapped stories enthusiastically. Once the grill was fired up, it never cooled down! After lunch "Fernando" and his son created a few photo ops and with full stomachs enjoyed the remaining races.

Because the garages were also the pits for the race bikes, customers were encouraged to ask questions and/or participate in the pre-and-post race activities. Racing should be fun for both the spectators and the racers. Bringing everybody together, some new to racing and others with more experience, created an atmosphere exceeding all expectations. The garages were constantly buzzing with excitement. "Angel" made sure the bike was spotless, even removing a war wound received when another racer in qualifying hit me. "Brad" had a huge grin, even when eating! The "TWISTED" crew, a group of hard riding young guys were in their glory and bench racing about next year.

Did we win? Yes. Not in the races where we finished mid-pack, but where it counts, in the fun department. Everyone involved enjoyed the day. We made new racing fans and confirmed or refreshed the old ones. "This is what the being resident pro is all about." says King, "Taking customer service to the max! We are one of the fastest growing and most aggressive dealerships in the tri-state area. We have many things in our future such as group rides, some specifically for new or just coming back riders, and seminars on riding tips and general maintenance." To find out more, stop by the dealership or call 973-839-1117. We now have three 8pm nights: Tuesday, Thursday, and new Friday and 10-6 on Monday and Wednesday and 10-5 on Saturday.
